The Liberation Tower







        It represents Kuwaiti liberation, the sure sign of the country’s resurgence. It is one of tallest elecommunication towers in the world. The tower is 372 meters in height, and is 40 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. The tower was named after the nation was liberated from the multinational coalition which happended due to seven months of Iraqi occupation during the Gulf War. The structure has been built by use of ceramic tiles on the façade from the base to the first mezzanine level, which is 308 meters above ground level. The tower has eighteen elevators, which are also the fastest in the world, operating at the speed of 6.3meters per second. Located above the revolving mezzanine, are the six office floors, the section being encased in anodized aluminium, to withstand the extreme temperatures in Kuwait.











Sea Clubs









       Many of Kuwait’s sea clubs offer a wide variety of facilities and activities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, beaches, tennis courts, gymnasiums, bowling and even karate.Kuwait sea clubs are popular for modern services and amenities matching the contemporary lifestyle. The sea beaches located near the sea clubs are also prime attractions of the region.




     Among the several sea clubs, five of them are run by KTEC. The five clubs are Fahaheel, Al Shaab, Ras Al-Ardh, B'neid Al-Gar and Bida. These KTEC sea clubs cater various facilities to meet the international demand. These sea clubs also have separate sections for women and children. Each club has a special day or time for women and children only. There is also a sea club run by the government of Kuwait and is known as the Kuwait Sea Sports Club.

The Bayt Al-Badr

The Kuwait Towers









        These are the most famous landmarks of Kuwait. The Kuwait Towers are situated on the Arabian Gulf Street in Dasman, promontory to east of City Center. The topmost sphere of the largest tower (187 meters in height), has a revolving observation area and a restaurant with access to high speed lifts. The middle tower comprises one million gallons of water.










  
Sadu House









      Sadu house in Kuwait was set up in 1980 to protect the interests of the Bedouins and their ethnic handicrafts.  Kuwait Sadu House is a unique tourist attraction in that country. It is located close the National Museum in Kuwait. The Sadu House is a wonderful place to visit for the tourist. There are several chambers each decorated with pottered motifs of houses, mosques, storage houses and so on. Al-Baraha a roofed playground for children has been constructed inside Sadu House. For relaxation, there is the Abu Adhan cafe decorated with colorful hand-woven patterns and wooden benches.












National Museum









       The Museum, location in close proximity to the National Assemble, comprises four buildings and a planetarium. Though, stripped and burnt by the Iraqi invaders, it houses the Al Sabah collection of Islamic art, the most comprehensive collections in the world. The other buildings displays pearl-diving relics, archaeological material from excavations on Failaka Islands, ethnographic artifacts etc. The Museum also consists of the Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah (DAI), a wide collection of Islamic art, ranging from early Islam to the eighteenth century.












Pearl Diving










     Pearls (dana), once formed the basis of Kuwait's wealth. Now, annual pearl diving festivals help today's generation experience the excitement and hardship that their forefathers faced. Such festivals are a tribute to men who dedicated their lives to the pearling industry. Kuwait Pearl Diving is a great activity to indulge in for the tourists and is one of the chief sources of entertainment in the country. Moreover, the Kuwait Pearl Diving also reflects an important aspect of the Kuwaiti culture. Kuwait, pearl diving is known as “ghaus” and the people who participate in it are known as “ghawawis”.








  
Failaka Island










     This beautiful island has only soldiers as its permanent residents, as it was once left devastated by the Gulf War. However, the visitors get to view the ruins from settlements of the Bronze Age Dilmuns and Hellenistic Greeks, who left many treasures from which, their past could be reconstructed. The Greeks have lived in this island for two centuries from 4th century BC. Failaka, is also the home of Kuwaiti’s main archaeological site, and is worth a visit. A temple is considered as the centerpiece of this island. Failaka is located about 20kms north-east of Kuwait City’s center, and is about twelve kilometers in length, six kilometers in width and is very flat.










The Tareq Rajab Museum









       It is located at the main city area of Kuwait. The museum has the collection of above thirty thousand items collected by Tareq Sayed  Rajab and his beloved wife Jehan Wellborne. The items are about fifty years old.


       Tareq Sayed Rajab, after completing his studies in US, married Jehan Wellborne in the year 1955 and since then they had a plan of constructing their own museum. This is how the idea of constructing the Tareq Rajab Museum came to existence and presently the museum displays around ten thousand collected items. Jehan Wellborne was passionate about researching on the lifestyle and culture of different types of people and their culture. Tareq's wife was also interested in the folklore and other traditional subjects. After getting married to Tareq Sayed, she worked on all these things and the collection of the items in the museum are the memories of her works.











Yachting








        Kuwait is a sailor's paradise. The seas offshore is seldom really rough, but there is nearly always a moderate breeze. Boats range from small sailing dinghies to large yachts. The Yatch Club has a marina with 300 fully serviced berths. Many of the sea clubs have marinas and organise sailing activities. The Kuwait Offshore Sailing Association organises races, including one from Kuwait to Bahrain.





       Kuwait mosques are located in different corners of the city. They are the strong pillars of Islamic belief.
The role of Islam is immense in Kuwait for it is the most powerful source of motivation in binding the people of the place. Except for a few Christian Kuwaitis, majority of the people of Kuwait are Muslims.
Located on the Arabian Gulf Street, Grand Mosque is known to be the largest mosque in Kuwait. It covers an area of 45,000 square meters. The architecture breathes a traditional Islamic style. This mosque of Kuwait was opened to the people in June, 1986.




    The mosque area is beautifully adorned with waterfalls, green gardens, colorful flowers and palm trees. There are a total of 21 doors in the mosque which is made of Al Sag or teakwood. The walls are designed with Islamic geometrical signs and verses from Quran.










Municipal Gardens









        The Municipality maintains various public gardens around the country. The most popular among them is in the Fahd Al-Salem Street. All gardens are designed well with naturally shaded areas.The most famous among the Kuwait municipal gardens is the one in the garden in the Fahd Al-Salem Street. Most of the Kuwait municipal gardens have children's parks and other entertainment parks, allowing children to spend some lovely time. Though the amusement parks also form a part of the Kuwait attractions. However they are also included under the Kuwait municipal gardens. The Kuwait municipality also maintains several other gardens, which are also good places for an outing after the sunset. The Scientific Center









     This is the largest Aquarium to be built by the Kuwait Foundation in the Middle East for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The visitors can focus on natural sea habitats, the coastal edges and desert of Arabian Peninsula, the motion picture of IMAX Theatre, and explore childhood skills in the Discovery Place, visit the Dhow Harbour, and relax at the Scientific Centre restaurant.













Kuwait Science Club













      Is situated on the sixth Ring Road and comprise a wide range of facilities and the latest scientific hardware including the Aujairy Observatory. The club aims to create a casual environment for people of all ages to develop their scientific knowledge and hobbies.










Zoological Park








        Is located in the Omarrya on the Airport Road. The Kuwait Zoo is spread across 180,000 sq. meters of Parkland and houses about sixty five species of animals, 129 species of birds, five species of reptiles, apart from other animals such as giraffes, zebras, elephants, tigers and lions.The zoo is a home to numerous species of birds, animals, insects and reptiles. The tigers, zebras, lions, elephants and giraffes of Kuwait Zoological Park are the key attractions. Every tourist makes it a point to visit the Kuwait Zoological Park.

      It is one of the most popular Kuwait attractions. The entertainment city is one of the most important Kuwait  attractions, amusing visitors with its varied rides, games and shows. It is counted as one of the best amusing parks in the world. In Kuwaiti language the entertainment city is called Al-Madina Al-Tarfihiya. The entertainment city is situated in Doha, which lies on the northern part of the Kuwait bay. The programs are based on three themes like Future World, Arab World and the International World. Liberation Monuments








        Al-Qurain House, situated in the Qurain housing area, is a site of bloody battle between Iraq and Kuwait, just before liberation, now converted into a museum, dedicated to those who laid down their lives. Even the Iraqi tank, mounted on the Jahra Gate, around the end of Fahd Al-Salem Street is a reminder of the folly of the war. Also another monument located in Soor Street, near the main entrance of Ministry of Information, shows a walkthrough pictorial display of scenes from the Iraqi occupation. There are various such monuments across the city.
